I have not figured out my möbius cast on, nor have I given up hope. I do however, have a massive headache that I have decided to temporarily relieve with useless online surfing shenanigans, like online quizzes. Hence, I’ve answered the question, “Which Springer-Verlag Graduate Text in Mathematics are you?”

If I were a Springer-Verlag Graduate Text in Mathematics, I would be W.B.R. Lickorish’s An Introduction to Knot Theory. I am an introduction to mathematical Knot Theory; the theory of knots and links of simple closed curves in three-dimensional space. I consist of a selection of topics which graduate students have found to be a successful introduction to the field. Three distinct techniques are employed; Geometric Topology Manoeuvres, Combinatorics, and Algebraic Topology. Which Springer GTM would you be? The Springer GTM Test |
Now I’ve never been a graduate math student and I have no idea what distinguishes a Springer-Verlag Graduate Text, but knot theory sounds a lot like knitting to me so I approve. In fact, I think I’ll refer to all of my future projects as advanced knot theory and I shall be a knot theorist. So academic sounding. Plus the author’s name is Lickorish. Really, what’s not to like?
