I’ve noticed an upsurge in people downloading the pattern for the towel. First of all, thank you! You are awesome.
Secondly, I wanted to let you know that an update in the pattern is brewing as we speak. The update will include the fix for the mistake in the written instructions, expanded instructions for how exactly you should approach the double knit handle (as it is now I basically give you the chart and say good luck!) and I break the main chart down into small sections for each type of stitch. I also compressed the file a bit so although the pattern now takes up more pages the file should be the same size or smaller. I do need to test the new pattern, and I can say that simply can’t happen until next week at the earliest because of the holidays. So if the instructions are clear enough to you now, please absolutely go for it. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. If you go cross-eyed looking at it, keep an eye out here for the revision. I promise it is coming.

Could I respectfully request that the printed directions in the middle of the 1st page be (maybe) put on a page of their own? The font is so small that I can hardly read it after I printed it. If the pictures (which are great!) could be on 1 page and then the directions on the next page (or whatever order), then the font would be lots larger. I LOVE the pattern and have some cotton in my stash just waiting for such a project. Thanks for the pattern!!

I answered Nan in email, (as I usually do, in case people don’t check back here) but here’s the gist of my response for anyone else with similar concerns and I hope that it is helpful.
In the revision font will be the standard size for fonts in most books, and laid out basically like you describe. However, in the meantime, and even with the revised version if it’s still to small, you should be able to blow up the pdf file significantly when printing without any ill effect. For example, I try to contain the graphs to a page so you can see the full effect easily but you can blow up the section you need to say, 700 percent to see the details better and it should print out without being blurry. The type works the same way.
Regarding using cotton, I’ve noticed that’s it’s important to knit on the looser side when executing the wrapped stitches. Knitting tightly may cause frustration as the cotton is not forgiving at all and may pucker the design. You may want to test out your tension on a swatch first. Just something to keep in mind.
